Company Description

Sanderson Design Group is a leading luxury interior furnishings company, specialising in fabrics, wallpaper and paints, which are sold around the globe. The group has in-house manufacturing facilities, Standfast & Barracks for fabrics and Anstey for wallpaper, which also produce for third parties. Its brand portfolio includes Morris & Co and Sanderson, both founded over 160 years ago, along with Clarke & Clarke, Harlequin, Scion and Zoffany. Brands have their own individual styles and characteristics, with strong design and visual appeal. The group's substantial archive and Intellectual Property (IP) rights are key strategic assets, the value and monetisation of which can be seen in the growth of its highly profitable Licensing income stream in recent years. The group launched its Live Beautiful sustainability strategy in 2021, with a key commitment of being net carbon zero by 2030.

Investment Summary

Since a leadership change in 2019, the group has been following a clearly articulated strategic framework with detailed milestones up to FY24 with a view to driving sales and profitability. Having initially focused on strengthening the business foundations, rightsizing the cost base and increasing business efficiencies, the group has shifted its attention to a significant number of growth drivers. These include domestic and international expansion, leveraging its unique archive, increasing brand awareness, extending its licensing agreements, and range extension. The substantial US market is a core focus within the group's international expansion plans. Operational efficiency will also be enhanced through the growing mix of digital printing in the group's manufacturing facilities.
