Jeffrey Harwood

Ian has over two decades of experience in the smaller companies and technology sectors working as investor, analyst and advisor.  Ian Started his career by qualifying as a chartered accountant before moving onto roles in corporate finance at EY and then fund management at Gartmore and RSA.  Ian then moved across to sell-side equity research at HSBC and subsequently worked at a number of UK small cap specialist brokers, including Altium, Evolution and Seymour Pierce. 

Ian Robertson

Jonathan has been an equity research analyst for over 30 years, focused on the huge evolution of the global TMT sector over this period. He has covered the industry globally, on a pan-European basis, and as a UK specialist over this period, ranging from large cap to small cap companies, and working for a number of sell-side institutions including JPMorgan Cazenove, Goldman Sachs, HSBC James Capel, Panmure Gordon, and Berenberg. He has been top-3 rated in Extel and Institutional Investor on a number of occasions, and recognised as a leading stock picker by Starmine. Jonathan has an Honours degree in Chemistry from Oxford University.

Jonathan Helliwell

Jon, an Economics graduate of the University of York, has been researching stocks since 1995, including time spent as an Investment Analyst within Clerical Medical, and subsequently as Assistant Head of Research for Insight. He was then appointed a Director of EEA Group, a successful fund management business. He has covered stocks across most areas of the market, and has a good understanding of Technology and Media stocks, as well as the Business Services and Consumer sectors.

Jon Fieldsend

Peter has 30 years’ experience as an analyst in the Oil industry. Prior to joining Progressive, Peter worked as an Exploration and Production analyst at HSBC. Before this, he was an E&P analyst at Panmure Gordon. Peter has also held oil analyst positions at Williams de Broë, Cheuvreux, Seymour Pierce and Lehman Brothers, and has been Starmine-rated on several occasions. Peter studied Chemical Engineering at University College London.

Peter Hitchens

Stephen has over 35 years’ experience in equity investment research, corporate finance, business planning and investor communication. Having qualified as an accountant, Stephen spent ten years in the accountancy profession, latterly at Deloitte. He worked at Investec for seven years and has pursued a variety of roles – including business planning projects for corporates; financial management roles including as a Finance Director; and equity investment research.  He has worked across a variety of sectors including Information Technology, Electronics, Media, Property, Support Services, Food and Drink, Retail, Healthcare, Financial Services, Charity and Agribusiness.

Stephen Anstee

Tony has worked within the oil and gas industry for over 30 years, including over 20 years as one of the leading equity analysts covering the sector.  He was Head of Oil and Gas research for Peel Hunt and worked at Investec for 16 years prior to this.  In these capacities, he was closely involved with IPOs and financings for several successful oil companies. He has also worked in Investment Research with The Bell Group International and Project Finance with Schroders.  He read Mathematics at Cambridge University, both as an undergraduate and a post-graduate research student.

Tony Alves

Tessa is an accomplished analyst with over ten years’ equity research experience, covering a broad range of sectors.  Her analyst experience includes time working at Investec, Unicredit, Seymour Pierce and Charles Stanley. Tessa is a chartered engineer and has the added advantage of an industry background. During her career, she spent a number of years managing a successful building services and renewable heating business which she co-founded.

Tessa Starmer

Alastair has almost 35 years’ experience covering the Property and Construction sector, encompassing UK, European and Emerging Market stocks. He previously worked as a research analyst at Investec and Dresdner Kleinwort, amongst other institutions. Prior to this, he spent twelve years as a financial journalist covering the construction sector.  Known for his outspoken views, Alastair is often invited to speak at industry events and sits on the influential Experian Construction Forecasting panel. He writes a regular column in Property Week, and his former career as a property journalist helps him to uncover investment and news opportunities that others have missed

Alastair Stewart

Barney is an equity analyst with over 20 years’ research experience. During his career, he has covered a broad spectrum of companies across several sectors including Energy, Manufacturing, Agriculture and Emerging Markets. He previously spent five years as Head of Research at both Old Park Lane Capital and Westhouse Securities, managing specialist teams of analysts with a focus on the Energy and Natural Resources sectors. A University of St Andrews graduate, his earlier experience included time spent at Williams de Broë and Credit Lyonnaise.

Barney Gray

Blaine has over fifteen years’ Telecommunications and Technology research experience, covering both UK and European companies. During his career, he has held senior research positions at ABN AMRO, Salomon Brothers, (now Citigroup), and UBS. Blaine graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in Computing and has an MBA (Finance) from Durham University. He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and the Chartered Institute for IT.

Blaine Tatum

Chris has a BSc in Geology from the Royal School of Mines in London, with a post-graduate qualification in Ore Mineralogy. He has worked on projects and consulting engagements in a number of countries including Zambia, Indonesia, Nigeria and Cameroon. Chris specialises in understanding and explaining ore and resource formations, and in GIS and mapping.
